If you are one of the folks that actually follows my blogs (and I thank you if you do), you may wonder
sometimes why sometimes they may be coming out regularly on a monthly basis, and then there are
gaps in content for a period of time and then another one will show up.

The Reality Behind My Posting Schedule

The answer to that question is that I write the blogs when I have free periods of time that I am not
working on cases. Technically, my workload is always heavy enough to justify skipping blog writing
altogether, but there are specific reasons why I personally write these posts rather than outsourcing
them, even when it’s recommended by our web team.

Why I Write My Own Blog Content

There are reasons that I write my own blogs and have resisted suggestions (mostly from our web folks
who know more about this stuff than I) that I do what other companies and firms do, and have outside
writers post blog material on our website so that I don’t have to be bogged down with it. While this
approach works well in web marketing, here are the main reasons why I prefer to write the blogs myself:

1. Sharing Practical Knowledge from Real Experience

Well, for one, when I choose a subject to write about, it’s because I practice in the area and have a
greater understanding. I use that knowledge to try and inform people about changes in the law, or
aspects of the law that they might not be aware of (you should check out my blogs on damages) when I
see something that I think others might find interesting. I believe that people who are informed (and
this is a philosophy of my practice) are going to make better decisions when that information gets
applied to their own lives.

2. Ensuring Information is Accurate

Second, it’s pretty simple, I don’t trust other writers to accurately provide information to my readers in
my field of expertise, and it would take me just as much time to go in and edit content from
“professional” writers than it is to just write the things myself.

3. Staying Authentic

Third, writing my own content is just more authentic in my mind. Maybe I’m a little looney on this
aspect, but I’d like to think that people who read our blogs get insight into our philosophies and
practices, as well as practical information (such as my blog on attorney’s fees). I know I get frustrated
when I feel like I’m searching for professionals but their marketing provides no information about what I
should expect as far as the cost of those services, or what those services would be like. I have tried to
provide that information and a lot more that can be helpful in gaining understanding about the legal
process when you have been injured because of someone else’s negligence.
